Originally purchased as a young lady's first new car, I'm the second owner and the vehicle has 131,925 miles, and was a daily driver until a motor mount broke in a snowstorm. I then parked it in the garage and had planned to fix the motor mount in spring.
Well after 20 years I finally moved the Camaro out of the garage and again am planning to fix the mount and restore the vehicle.
Now I have the cylinders and valves soaking in an oil mixture to soften the seals and coat the cylinder walls before trying to turn the engine, prior to firing it up once again.
Some auto friends have asked, why am I restoring it with the six cylinder engine. Go clone it!. Others think it will be interesting to see a Base Camaro. The only options are the 2 speed automatic trans and the AM radio. It will become the "Geezer Machine".
Having previously worked for the GM Parts Division, I was able tp purchase Original quarter panels, fenders, grille and all the emblems, handles and much more 30 years ago, which I have had in storage.
