Chevy-Vega
A*&#@! Moments

There are always those times when something HAS to go WRONG!!!

Moment # 1

Discovered that the lower belt pulley had broken. Possibly  the reason the Vega was put in storage.

No time to panic on this, since I had another on a parts engine (with Air for 2 belts).

Moment # 2

Got the idea that I wanted to replace the thermostat.  Easy just take off the alternator, take out the bolts and there it is.  WRONG***
The main bolt that goes through the outlet housing was fused and would not budge. The only remedy was to break the alternator off the bolt. No easy job.
Ended up cutting part of the housing ear.

Just got a new housing on EBAY.

 Moment # 3

When I tried to separate the intake and exhaust manifolds.  Years of heat bonded the thin metal to the manifolds, and when the tube was gently tapped with a small hammer it broke off.
Now, where in the world would I locate this special part.

After a frantic email to CB, the parts vendor, he was able to locate a replacement NOS part. WHEW!!
Just can't wait to see what happens next!
